Hello There (Intro post)

Well, "Edward Dain" is a pseudonym for one thing -

What is your field of work/job- or one you'd like to be in? I've done everything from carpentry, to retail management and buying, to low-level white-collar management. Currently I'm back in graduate school getting my degree in clinical psychology. I graduate with my PsyD in about three years, and I went back to college intending to practice in the LGB (now more focused on Altsex) community. I intend to have a clinical practice as well as do training/seminars on LGB and Altsex issues, perhaps teach some as well.

What kind of experiences have you had (positive/negative) as an alternative professional? The whole range, from outright hostility to could care less to open acceptance. My present practica site is low-grade hostile, my grad school faculty are almost entirely accepting, and my academic peers range from scared to accepting. I'm doing my dissertation on BDSM and while not exactly out of the closet - most people assume that I'm kinky if they don't already know. Same thing with polyamory, I'm out to a couple of people (and one class, we had to do genograms...) but I'm not making strident denunciations of the monogamist power-structures either. Frankly, I'm stepping back into the closet to a degree regarding my kink and non-monogamy because it makes more sense for my academic/research work. Pagan is basically a non-issue, and bisexuality as well to a degree.

Where do you live- in terms of the cultural atmosphere? Chicago suburbs, and I go to school in the city. It's basically ok - sort of all depends upon the phase of the moon and the individual involved.

Feel free to ask questions or comment.
